WHEREAS, Dr. David M. Snyder is a retired orthopedic surgeon who practiced at Blue Ridge Orthopaedic and Spine Center in Warrenton from 1975 to 2007; and

            WHEREAS, Dr. Snyder also served as president of the Fauquier Hospital medical staff in 1979, and as the Director of the emergency medical system of Fauquier County from 1978 to 1982; and

            WHEREAS, Dr. Snyder also served on the Board of Directors of the International Academy of Preventative Medicine; and

            WHEREAS, prior to coming to Warrenton, Dr. Snyder was in the United States Navy and served in Vietnam as a surgeon; and

            WHEREAS, Dr. Snyder has also traveled on medical missions that have taken him to Bosnia, Nepal, China, Africa, Haiti and the Dominican Republic; and

            WHEREAS, Dr. Snyder is founder of the Verdun Adventure Board, a retreat center for at-risk youth teaching self discovery and team building skills; and

            WHEREAS, Dr. Snyder has been involved with Hospice of the Rapidan and hospice care in Fauquier County since its inception; and

            WHEREAS, Dr. Snyder served as President of the Virginia State Hospice Association in 1986 and continues to be an advocate of the hospice philosophy today; and

            WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors wishes to recognize and honor Dr. Snyder; now, therefore, be it

            PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 8th day of October 2009, That the Board hereby recognizes and honors Dr. David M. Snyder for his dedication and many selfless contributions to the community.
