Topic: 

An Ordinance Exempting Certain Real Property Owned by The Plains Community League from Taxation

Topic Description:

The County is authorized by Section 8-71 of the Fauquier County Code to declare property of charitable organizations exempt from taxation.  The Plains Community League has requested such an exemption.  The property, with the exception of a portion which is rented for a non-exempt purpose, is used solely for charitable purposes.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached Ordinance.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

The property is assessed at $476,600 but was previously classified as exempt property of a religious organization.  The leasehold portion of the property will not be classified as exempt.
