A Resolution to Award a Contract to Motorola for Public Safety Radio Equipment to Expand the Radio System to the Vint Hill Site

Topic Description:

The County and engineering consultants have previously identified an area in the vicinity of Vint Hill that has poor radio coverage.  It has been determined that the expansion of the radio system to include a simulcast remote site at Vint Hill will address this problem.  Discussions are proceeding with the Vint Hill Economic Development Authority to utilize the existing 400 foot tower to enhance radio coverage.  As a part of the project the microwave network to be established from the Vint Hill site to View Tree will be designed to provide capacity for data transmission to serve County facilities in the area.

The contract will provide radio equipment necessary to add a sixth site to the existing radio system.  The proposal has been reviewed by the County’s radio consultant.

The County intends to obtain, through competitive procurement, other needed components to establish this site such as the equipment shelter building, generator, fuel tank and microwave equipment that will be necessary for the project.
