PROCLAMATION

A PROCLAMATION TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND HONOR THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF SERGEANT JAMES SPARKS TO THE CITIZENS OF FAUQUIER COUNTY

            WHEREAS, James Sparks is a veteran police officer and a detective in the Major Crimes Unit of the Fairfax County Police Department; and

WHEREAS, in 2006, Sergeant James Sparks was deployed to Iraq as a member of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania National Guard; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Sparks served in Iraq for over seven months and was stationed at Ar Ramadi in Anbar Province; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Sparks was a member of a squad responsible for government transportation and he ran over 800 missions and drove more then 15,000 miles, often in perilous conditions; and

WHEREAS, prior to serving in Iraq, Sergeant Sparks served for five months in Afghanistan and also served as a United States Marine; and

WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors wishes to recognize and commend Sergeant Sparks for his dedication, courage and service to the citizens of the United States and Fauquier County; now, therefore, be it

            PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 14th day of September 2006, That the Board of Supervisors, on behalf of all citizens of Fauquier County, does hereby extend its deepest appreciation to Sergeant James Sparks and his family.
