Topic: 

Family Access to Medical Insurance (FAMIS) Enrollment Plan

Topic Description:

The Family Access to Medical Insurance (FAMIS) Plan was created to meet the health care needs of Virginia’s uninsured children, up to age 18, in working families whose earning levels are more than the maximum requirements for Medicaid, but not enough income to afford private health insurance.  An estimated 60% of Fauquier County children eligible for this low-cost medical insurance program are enrolled.  The Fauquier County Social Services Board has established a goal of enrolling 100% of eligible children.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Hold a work session on and endorse the Fauquier County Social Services Board’s recommended FAMIS Enrollment Plan, and, as part of the Regular Agenda, proclaim November 2002 as FAMIS Enrollment Month in Fauquier County.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

There are no additional resources required to implement the attached plan.
