Topic:

A Resolution to Authorize a Position for Building and Grounds Maintenance for the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport

Topic Description:

The recently approved agreement with the Fixed Based Operator at the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport shifts responsibility for maintaining public facilities to Fauquier County.  The General Services Division will support the airport manager in meeting this duty through the use of a combination of contracted services and County maintenance staff.  Associated with these responsibilities is an increase in the income at the airport.  The income is sufficient to fund routine maintenance and to develop a reserve for future improvement projects.  The Personnel Committee of the Board of Supervisors will consider the authorization of the position at is October meeting.   The Finance Committee will include the appropriation of the airport revenue as a part of a more comprehensive budget amendment process.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors

Consider adoption of attached resolution.  

Fiscal Impact:

Funds generated at the airport from the rental of public property are sufficient to fund this program.  No County general funds are required.
