State Revenue Reductions
|

Topic Description:
|
|
The
Governor has indicated there is at least a $1.5 billion
revenue shortfall in the State's bi-annual budget which
will have direct and indirect impacts on local jursidictions. A
Board of Supervisors work session was held
on September 16, 2002, to review
this situation and discuss options to mitigate the impact
of State revenue loss. As part of that review a number of proposed
strategies were recommended in a draft resolution for the Board of
Supervisors' consideration. After evaluation of these
recommendations, the County Administrator was directed to reword
the element related to a hiring freeze and schedule the revised
resolution for consideration at the Boards' October
meeting. The revised language is a restatement of the
current policy which directs that vacant positions can only be
filled with the approval of County Administration.
