PROCLAMATION

A PROCLAMATION TO RECOGNIZE THE OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS OF

 ALONZO WHITE TO THE DISABLED CITIZENS OF FAUQUIER COUNTY

AS A MEMBER OF THE FAUQUIER COUNTY

DISABILITY SERVICES BOARD

      WHEREAS, in 1998, Alonzo White was appointed to the Fauquier County Disability Services Board by the Board of Supervisors, and the Board now wishes to recognize his considerable service to the citizens of Fauquier County, particularly to persons with physical and sensory disabilities and their families; and

      WHEREAS, Alonzo White has dedicated more than 20 years of his life to helping the disabled, by working with patients at Fauquier Home Health, Mid-Atlantic Home Health, Culpeper Health Care Center, Alexandria Outpatient Rehabilitation, Arlington Hospital, Oak Springs Nursing Home, and Fauquier Hospital; and

      WHEREAS, in 1977, Carlos White, younger brother of Alonzo White, was permanently disabled in a serious automobile accident, suffering head and mobility injuries, prompting Alonzo White to take a serious interest in the rehabilitation of others; and

      WHEREAS, in 1991, Alonzo White and his older brother, Dennis White, were victims of a head-on collision that left Alonzo White with serious injury and took the life of his brother, which solidified his dedication to helping the disabled through rehabilitation and personal motivation; and

      WHEREAS, Alonzo White actively serves in his church and civic organizations, has served on the Board of Directors for Community Action, as Transportation Subcommittee Chairman for the Disability Services Board, and continues his work with people who have physical and/or sensory disabilities; and

      WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors desires to express its sincerest appreciation to Alonzo White for his skilled, loyal and dependable service to the citizens of this community; now, therefore, be it

PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 21st day of October 2002, That the Board of Supervisors does hereby honor and commend Alonzo White for his devoted service to Fauquier County; and, be it

      PROCLAIMED FURTHER, That the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors extends its warmest gratitude and offers its heartfelt best wishes to Alonzo White in all future endeavors.
