Topic:

A Resolution Authorizing an Application by the Marshall Business and Residents Association with the Commonwealth Transportation Board for Grant Funding from Transportation Enhancement Funds to Establish a Project for the Engineering of Street Improvements to Virginia Route 55 (Main Street) in the Unincorporated Town of Marshall, Fauquier County, Virginia

Topic Description:

The Marshall Business and Residents Association is applying for a Transportation Enhancement grant to provide funds for the engineering of improvements to Route 55 (Main Street) in the unincorporated Town of Marshall, Virginia.  The engineering component would include the engineering of the reconstruction of sidewalks, pedestrian amenities, street trees, along with the undergrounding of electric lines and the installation of a storm water collection system and retention ponds.  The Marshall Business and Residents Association is asking that Fauquier County agree to act as the grant sponsor.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Conduct a public hearing and consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

The Transportation Enhancement Grant Sought by the Marshall Business and Residents Association is up to $350,000.  The grant requires a 20% local match.
