A Resolution of Endorsement to Request the Commonwealth Transportation Board to Establish a Project for Construction of a Pedestrian and Bicycle Trail

Topic Description:

The Parks & Recreation Department is applying for a Transportation Enhancement grant to provide funds for construction of approximately one-half mile of bicycle and pedestrian trail on property being donated for that purpose. This trail ultimately will connect to the Warrenton Branch Greenway to provide scenic, safe, off-road access to the Town of Warrenton, Lord Fairfax Community College, the elementary school to be located on the recently purchased Stafford property, as well as the proposed Central Sports Complex by pedestrians and bicyclists from the Town of Warrenton and surrounding areas.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Conduct a public hearing and consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

It is projected the value of the donated property will meet the requirements of the local match.
