A Work Session to Review the
City of Fredericksburg Proposed Conservation Easement –
Rappahannock River |
|
Topic Description: |
|
The Board of Supervisors
requested a work session to review the proposed conservation
easement. Attached is previous correspondence concerning
the Board’s general
support of the concept. Also attached is a
summary of the easement
terms prepared by the City of Fredericksburg.
Representatives from the
City of Fredericksburg and the Nature Conservancy have been
invited to the meeting. In May 2004, City elections took
place resulting in a number of changes on the Council and in
the office of the Mayor. It is believed that the new Mayor
and City Council are seeking input from other jurisdictions
regarding the easement.
There are 485 acres within
Fauquier County that are potentially covered by the proposed
easement.
