A Resolution Authorizing the Chairman to Execute a Lease Amendment Agreement with the Fauquier County School Board
On July 1, 1999, the Board of Supervisors and School Board entered into a Lease of a portion of the Alice Jane Childs Building located at 320 Hospital Drive in the Town of Warrenton. The School Board uses the leased area for administrative offices. On June 30, 2003, the Lease and its First Amendment expired. The School Board has requested that the Board of Supervisors enter into a Lease Amendment Agreement renewing the Lease on the same terms and conditions contained in the Lease Amendment Agreement and the original Lease. Under the Lease Amendment Agreement, the School Board continues to lease the same amount of space as it has previously leased, for a term of one (1) year, which commenced on July 1, 2004, and ends on June 30, 2005. Under this Agreement, the School Board also has the right to renew the Lease for four (4) additional one (1) year terms, by giving the County at least 90 days written notice prior to the expiration of the effective term of the Lease.

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.
Financial Impacts Analysis:
Annual rent for the leased space is $135,488.28 based upon a rental rate of $16.00 per usable square footage. The Agreement also permits a change in the rent based upon the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners (CPI-U).
