A Resolution of Endorsement to Request the Commonwealth Transportation Board to Establish a Project for Construction of a Pedestrian and Bicycle Trail

Topic Description:

The Parks & Recreation Department is applying for a Transportation Enhancement grant to provide funds for construction of approximately one-half mile of bicycle and pedestrian trail on the Fauquier Campus of Lord Fairfax Community College.  This trail will ultimately connect to the Warrenton Branch Greenway to provide scenic, safe, off-road access to the Town of Warrenton by pedestrians and bicyclists.  This trail will also allow access by Lord Fairfax Community College students to a stormwater pond for study.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Conduct a public hearing and consider adoption of the attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

The 20% local match will be provided by in-kind contributions of trail rights-of-way, maintenance and labor by the Parks & Recreation Department, as well as cash funding anticipated from the Fauquier Trails Coalition.
