PROCLAMATION
A PROCLAMATION TO HONOR THE LIFE OF KATHARINE ANN “KAY” MACDONALD
WHEREAS, on October 23, 2005, Katharine Ann "Kay" Macdonald of Warrenton passed away; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Macdonald was born in Berkeley, California in 1930; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Macdonald graduated from Stephens College and attended the School of Architecture at the University of Oregon; and
WHEREAS, in 1954, she married Michael Graeme Macdonald, and in 1957, they moved to Alexandria, and then Loudoun County, and Frome, England; and
WHEREAS, from 1974 to 1978, her husband served as a political military attaché, and they lived in London; and
WHEREAS, in 1986, the Macdonalds purchased Monte Rosa/Neptune Lodge and Mrs. Macdonald devoted her energies to its rehabilitation and restoration; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Macdonald served in various capacities in numerous local organizations, to include the Friends of Warrenton, the Town of Warrenton Architectural Review Board, and as former president of the Warrenton Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, she was actively involved in land conservation and historic preservation; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Macdonald is survived by her husband of 51 years, five children, and six grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors wishes to express its appreciation of, respect for, and admiration of Mrs. Macdonald; now, therefore, be it
PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 10th day of November 2005, That the Board does hereby commend Katharine Ann “Kay” Macdonald for her many contributions to the community and expresses its profound condolences on her loss.
