A Resolution Authorizing the Implementation of the Road Abandonment Procedure for Movern Lane Pursuant to Section 33.1-151, et seq., of the Code of Virginia

Topic Description:

Within White's Mill subdivision, the Commonwealth of Virginia acquired a segment of right-of-way for a comprehensive plan road which is no longer contemplated.  Movern Lane, one of the subdivision streets,  bisects this portion of right-of-way and has been dedicated to public use, but has not yet been accepted into the State system.  The remaining portion of the right-of-way is not required for the subdivision street.  A plat showing the proposed vacation of right-of-way is attached hereto.   The Code of Virginia authorizes the abandonment of right-of-way no longer needed for the secondary system of highways upon compliance with statutory posting and notice requirements.  The attached resolution permits the County to undertake the notice and posting requirements in order to abandon the right-of-way.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.
