A Public Hearing to Receive Citizen Comment on a Proposed Ordinance to Classify Personal Property Owned by the Middleburg Humane Foundation Exempt from Taxation and to Donate Back to Middleburg Humane Foundation an Amount Equivalent to its 2009 Personal Property Taxes

Topic Description:

Middleburg Humane Foundation has requested that its property be declared exempt from taxation.  Prior to adopting an Ordinance which declares the property of a charity exempt from taxation, the Board of Supervisors must conduct a public hearing.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Conduct a public hearing and consider adoption of the attached Ordinance.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

The assessed value of the Middleburg Humane Society property is $16,365.  The fiscal impact of this action based upon the current assessment and personal property tax rate would be approximately $832.49.
