PROCLAMATION

A PROCLAMATION HONORING DAVID ALEXANDER BOTTS FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF FAUQUIER COUNTY

            WHEREAS, David Alexander Botts was born in Midland on September 14, 1913, the son of Thomas Alexander Botts and Mary Etta Messick Botts; and

            WHEREAS, Mr. Botts was a life-long farmer in Fauquier County; and

            WHEREAS, Mr. Botts was also a merchant who operated Botts' Store in Calverton for over 42 years; and

            WHEREAS, Mr. Botts was a longtime member of the Wesleyan United Methodist Church in Calverton; and

            WHEREAS, Mr. Botts was first elected to the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors in 1971 and was re-elected for three more terms, serving 19 years before retiring in 1987; and

            WHEREAS, Mr. Botts was also a member of the District Nursing Home Board and the Birmingham Green Nursing Home Board; and

            WHEREAS, Mr. Botts was a lifetime member of the Calverton-Catlett-Casanova Ruritan Club; and

            WHEREAS Mr. Botts served on the Advisory Board of the former State Bank of Remington: and

            WHEREAS, on October 25, 2009, Mr. Botts passed away at the age of 96; and

            WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors wishes to recognize and honor Mr. Botts posthumously for his dedication, perseverance and service to the community; now, therefore, be it

            PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 12th day of November 2009, That David Alexander Botts be, and is hereby, recognized and honored by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors; and, be it

            PROCLAIMED FURTHER, That the Board wishes to offer its deepest condolences to Mr. Botts’ family.
