RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION ADDING PORTIONS OF ROUTES 610 AND 602, ABANDONING A PORTION OF ROUTE 602, AND RENUMBERING PORTIONS OF ROUTE 602

WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation has provided the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors with a sketch dated July 10, 2007 (Revised 08-07-09) depicting the additions, abandonments, and renumberings required in the Secondary System of State Highways as a result of Project:  0028-030-111,C501, which is incorporated herein by reference; and

WHEREAS, the new road serves the same citizens as those portions of the old road identified to be abandoned and which no longer serve a public need; and

            WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation has notified the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors by a letter dated August 26, 2009, of its intent to transfer portions of Route 28 from the Primary System to the Secondary System; now, therefore, be it

            RESOLVED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 12th day of November 2009, That the Board of Supervisors requests the Virginia Department of Transportation to add to the secondary System of State Highways those portions of road identified by sketch as Segments E to O and J to D to be added, pursuant to 33.1-229, Code of Virginia; and, be it

            RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors abandons as part of the Secondary System of State Highways those portions of road identified by the sketch as Segment N to O to be abandoned, pursuant to 33.1-155, Code of Virginia; and, be it

            RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors requests that the Virginia Department of Transportation renumber as a part of the Secondary System of State Highways those portions of Route 602 identified as Segments K to N and K to S on the aforementioned sketch; and, be it

            RESOLVED FINALLY, That a certified copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Residency Administrator of the Virginia Department of Transportation.
