Topic: 

A Resolution Authorizing the County Administrator to File with the Governor of Virginia a Request to Designate Fauquier County  as a Drought Disaster Area

Topic Description:

The lack of adequate rainfall during the period July 4, 2008 to August 28, 2008 reached critical proportions for the Fauquier County farming community.  The Fauquier Food and Agricultural Council reports that approximately 1,344 farms were affected with an estimated dollar loss of $7.5 million dollars.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors: 

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.
