RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE BUDGET
REDUCTIONS FOR FY 2009, DIRECT A REDUCTION IN FORCE WHEREAS, on October 9, 2008, the County Administrator briefed the Board of Supervisors on the anticipated revenue shortfall for FY 2009; and WHEREAS, the Board anticipates continued weakness in revenue through FY 2010; and WHEREAS, the County Administrator has worked with department heads and the Superintendent of Schools to reorganize programs, reduce services and achieve budget savings to for the next 18 months; and WHEREAS, the implementation of the Service Reduction Plan will require the County Administrator to transfer funds associated with expenditure reductions from various departments’ budgets to a contingency account, as well as to implement a reduction in force that is hereby directed; and WHEREAS, it is further directed that severance packages are to be made available to impacted employees that would provide salary and health coverage for a period not to exceed three months depending upon the length of service of the impacted employee; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 13th day of November 2008, That the Fauquier County Administrator be, and is hereby, directed to implement the reduction in force directive and to offer severance benefits consistent with County policy and to reduce departments’ FY 2009 budgets in accordance with this plan.
