RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT AND IMPLEMENT THE FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PLAN FOR CROSSOVERS ALONG U.S. ROUTE 17, 15, 29, & 211 IN FAUQUIER COUNTY, VIRGINIA

            WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Transportation Committee requested that the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) initiate a safety assessment of the existing crossover locations along the entire length of Route 29 in Fauquier County from Culpeper County to Prince William County; and

            WHEREAS, VDOT conducted an assessment of the crossovers along Route 29 and prepared a series of recommendations in a report entitled Virginia Department of Transportation Safety Improvement Plan for Crossovers Along U.S. Route 17, 15, 29, & 211 in Fauquier County, Virginia; and

WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors is concerned about traffic safety along Route 29; and

WHEREAS, on October 29, 2003, the Fauquier County’s Transportation Committee recommended approval of the Virginia Department of Transportation Safety Improvement Plan for Crossovers Along U.S. Route 17, 15, 29, & 211 in Fauquier County, Virginia; and

            WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors recommends that the Virginia Department of Transportation Safety Improvement Plan for Crossovers Along U.S. Route 17, 15, 29, & 211 in Fauquier County, Virginia be included in the Strategic Transportation Plan for the Bealeton, Calverton, Catlett, Midland, Opal and Remington Service Districts by reference when it is adopted; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 17th day of November 2003, That the Virginia Department of Transportation Safety Improvement Plan for Crossovers Along U.S. Route 17, 15, 29, & 211 in Fauquier County, Virginia be, and is hereby, supported and directs the County Administrator to implement this Plan.
