PROCLAMATION

A PROCLAMATION TO CELEBRATE ACHIEVING THE 100% ENROLLMENT GOAL FOR THE VIRGINIA-FAMILY ACCESS TO MEDICAL INSURANCE SECURITY (FAMIS) CHILDREN’S HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM IN FAUQUIER COUNTY

            WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia, in response to a nation-wide effort to assure good medical care to all children, created the Family Access to Medical Insurance Security (FAMIS) plan for working families who do not have health insurance for their children; and

            WHEREAS, Fauquier County promotes good health for children for their protection, healthy development, and strong school performance; and

            WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors, in support of the goal of 100% FAMIS enrollment for eligible children, designated November 2002 as FAMIS Enrollment Month and exhorted the Fauquier Medical Society, Fauquier County Public Schools, Department of Social Services, and Fauquier County Health Department to take all necessary actions in support of the goal of 100% enrollment of eligible children in the FAMIS plan; and

            WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Social Services Board with the cooperation and leadership of Delegate Scott Lingamfelter, established a multi-disciplinary team charged with identifying barriers to 100% enrollment of all eligible children in Fauquier County and to developed a plan to overcome those barriers; and

            WHEREAS, through the efforts of this team, County-wide enrollment was increased from 57% of eligible children to 100% as of September 2003; and

WHEREAS, through the efforts of this group, Fauquier County has been awarded a State grant for FAMIS retention to assist with on-going efforts to assure that newly eligible children are enrolled and to work with families to ensure their child's enrollment in maintained; now, therefore, be it

            PROCLAIMED by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors this 17th day of November 2003, That the Board of Supervisors on behalf of the citizens of Fauquier County does hereby express its sincere appreciation for the efforts of Delegate Scott Lingamfelter, the Fauquier Medical Society, Fauquier County Public Schools, Department of Social Services, and Fauquier County Health Department for their actions in achieving the goal of 100% enrollment of eligible children in the FAMIS plan; and, be it

            PROCLAIMED FURTHER, That the Board of Supervisors does hereby wish to recognize the following individuals for their efforts on behalf of the FAMIS program:
