Topic               A Resolution Authorizing the Award of a Proposal for the Construction of a Self-Supporting Tower at View Tree

The Board of Supervisors has regularly reviewed various options to provide telecommunication towers to support the equipment required to implement the 800 MHz Public Safety Radio System.  One of the critical tower locations is at View Tree, on property owned by the Federal Government.  The Board of Supervisors has previously authorized a lease for the purpose of constructing a tower at this site.  Five proposals were received to remove the two (2) existing guyed towers and to construct a 300-foot self-supporting tower in accordance with specifications prepared by the County’s engineering consultant.  The work is scheduled for completion by the end of February 2003.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors

Consider adoption of the attached resolution to award the proposal.
