Topic:

A RESOLUTION INITIATING THE ROAD ABANDONMENT PROCESS FOR A PORTION OF OLD STATE ROUTE 671

Topic Description:

Attached is a proposed resolution directing the County Administrator to institute the road abandonment process for portions of Old State Route 671 near Paris .  Said portion of the road to be abandoned is not currently in the state secondary system of highways, nor is it maintained by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).  With concurrence of the members of the Fauquier County Transportation Committee present at the scheduled October meeting it was recommended that this section of the road be abandoned; however, it needs to be noted that this was not an official meeting since a quorum was not present.  VDOT will continue to maintain approximately 0.1 mile of Route 671 from the northbound lane of Route 50 to the Paris water tank lot.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Consider adoption of the attached resolution.
