A Resolution in Support of the Director of Community Development’s Issuance of a Waiver to  the Design Standards Manual for the Brookside Project

Topic Description:

The Board of Supervisors has been considering an amendment to Section 204.2(3) of the Design Standards Manual (DSM) regarding the adequate treatment of stormwater runoff generated from new development sites prior to discharge into a jurisdictional wetland or local water body.   The development of the approved Brookside project is adversely affected by the current requirement of Section 204.2(3).  The project has federal and state permits, with recorded easements, for the delineation of wetland impacts within the site, and the project has complied with the water quality provisions of the Virginia Stormwater Management Law.  This proposed resolution provides support to the issuance of an administrative waiver by the Director of Community Development to Section 204.2(3) of the DSM related to the treatment of stormwater prior to discharge into a jurisdictional wetland for all phases of the Brookside project.
