A Resolution to Authorize the
County Administrator to Execute a Lease with the Vint Hill
Economic Development Authority for Space on the Vint Hill
Tower for Public Safety and County Communications
|
|
Topic Description: |
|
The Board of Supervisors
previously authorized the addition of an antenna site for
the public safety radio system in order to improve
communication coverage in the New Baltimore area. The
County has purchased radio equipment from Motorola and is
now soliciting bids for the equipment shelter and related
equipment. Previous studies conducted by the County’s
engineering consultant have determined that the existing
Vint Hill communications tower is well situated to greatly
improve public safety communications in this area.
The proposed lease is for a
five-year term with options to renew for additional
five-year terms. The County will be responsible for
improvements to the tower and tower site to accommodate the
equipment required. The lease has provisions that if the
Vint Hill Economic Development Authority seeks to relocate
the tower and if the relocation is approved, the County
would be responsible for the costs associated with moving
its equipment to the new site. If a new proposed lease
location is denied, the County would be provided land for a
new site that would have similar functional attributes and
then the County would construct and own the new tower.
