A Resolution Expressing
Intent of the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors to
Cooperate with Culpeper County in the Installation and
Operation of Their Respective E-911 Emergency Communications
Systems
|
|
Topic Description: |
|
The Culpeper County Board of
Supervisors has suggested that the informal working
relationship between the two Counties regarding the E-911
emergency communications systems be formalized in the form
of future agreements regarding the use of the communications
system and facilities supporting the 800 MHz multi-site,
simulcast, trunked communications system. These future
agreements would build upon existing mutual aid agreements
and take full advantage of the inter-operability features of
the emergency communications system.
The two Counties have
previously worked together to allow the placement of
Fauquier County radio communications equipment on an
existing antenna site located in Culpeper County for a token
fee. There are other opportunities for cooperation that
entail the utilization of Culpeper and Fauquier
communications centers as emergency back-up facilities for
each County. There are also opportunities to share some
fixed network equipment and thereby produce savings to both
Counties. |
|
Requested Action of the
Board of Supervisors:
|
|
Consider adoption of the
attached resolution. |
|
Financial Impacts Analysis: |
|
The cooperation between
Culpeper and Fauquier County will improve inter-operability
features of the 800 MHz radio systems and reduce costs
associated with emergency back-up communications centers and
possibly reduce costs associated with the equipment needed
for the public safety communications system. |
