A Resolution to Authorize Community Development to Pursue a Cost Estimate to Repair Wade Court in the Scott Magisterial District for Acceptance into the Secondary System of State Highways

Topic Description:

Bond funds are not available to support street repairs needed at Wade Court to facilitate acceptance of the street into the Secondary System of State Highways.  Several property owners on Wade Court have identified that the road is in disrepair and have requested that the County make the necessary repairs to allow the street to be formally accepted by VDOT.

On January 25, 1989, Auburn Mill Estates Subdivision, Phase 5, was recorded with the Wade Court right-of-way dedicated to the County as a public street.  However, the final finished paving required for VDOT road acceptance was never completed, and the bond expired on September 16, 1989.  The County is now responsible for correcting the pavement deficiencies on Wade Court and placing it into the Secondary System of State Highways for maintenance.  As a result, the Department needs Board of Supervisors authorization to pursue a cost estimate from a Construction Administration and Management firm currently under contract with the County for project management of the Wade Court project.
