Topic:

A Resolution to Designate the Fauquier Housing Corporation as the Sub-Recipient to Implement the Dry Well Replacement Program

Topic Description:

Fauquier County has received notice from the Virginia Department of  Housing and Community Development that block grants have been earmarked for a new program to assist low-income homeowners who have experienced inadequate well water supplies during the recent draught conditions.  The State requires that funding for this emergency program flow through local governments.

Fauquier Housing Corporation has the experience and desire to undertake this program in the County.  Fauquier Housing will identify eligible homeowners and execute the appropriate contracts to provide funding up to $5,000 in the form of a forgivable loan or grant, dependent upon income criteria, in a manner similar to the indoor plumbing program.  The County will be responsible for the financial reporting associated with the program.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Consider adoption of attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

Fauquier County will provide in-kind support associated with the financial and administrative reporting to implement the program.
