A Resolution to Authorize the Award of a Contract to Nine One One, Inc. to Upgrade Equipment at the Warrenton-Fauquier Joint Communications Center

Topic Description:

A telephone switch at the Warrenton-Fauquier Joint Communications Center needs to be replaced and the Center is also required to have the capability to receive 911 emergency calls from wireless phones.  In order to achieve both objectives, new equipment is required.  Many of the communication centers in Virginia are also upgrading equipment to comply with the requirement regarding wireless phones.  Stafford County completed the bid process in February 2001 to achieve this purpose and Fauquier County has elected to utilize the contract provisions from the Stafford procurement to acquire this equipment.  Our Communications Center staff has reviewed the equipment in Stafford and recommends that we proceed in this manner, thereby taking advantage of a good bid price and avoiding the time and expense of a similar procurement process.

The Warrenton-Fauquier Joint Communications Center Board has approved the projects and recommends the award of the bid.

Requested Action of the Board of Supervisors:

Consider adoption of attached resolution.

Financial Impacts Analysis:

The Board of Supervisors Finance Committee has recommended that funding from a State Grant and the Communications Center Fund Balance be utilized for this project.
