Great Books Group |
The Great Books group will meet at 7 p.m. on the following Mondays. Unless otherwise noted, the group meets in the Warrenton Library program room.
We meet each month to discuss enduring issues and ideas presented through selected readings to stimulate good conversation and hard thinking.
The group will be discussing the following selections in 2013:
- Jan. 7 - The Power of the Pohe Majority by Alexis de Tocqueville
- Feb. 4 - Individual Freedom by Georg Simmel
- March 4 - Antigone by Sophocles
- April 1 - A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner
- May 6 - Good Country People by Flannery O'Connor
- June 3 - Roman Fever by Edith Wharton
- July 1 - Smokers by Tobias Wolff
- Aug. 5 - Mary Postgate by Rudyard Kipling
- Sept. 9 - Hairball by Margaret Atwood
- Oct. 7 - The House with the Mezzanine by Anton Chekhov
- Nov. 4 - Shiloh by Bobbie Ann Mason
- Dec. 2 - The Rocking-Horse Winner by D.H. Lawrence
