History of School House 18
7592 East Main St.
Marshall, VA 20115
Public School Number 18 stands as sentinel to schooling as it used to be.  Immediately following the American Civil War, the Commonwealth of Virginia dedicated itself to the concept of free public education. Small Community schools, such as Number 18, dotted the county side. Visit the old school site, and step back in history and enjoy a guided tour of education the way it once was decades ago. Check out our Historical Sites webpage.

Birthday parties in the Northern Region
Want to do something unique for your child’s birthday?  Consider the Marshall Community Center!  The gymnasium is the perfect place for a basketball, volleyball or indoor soccer party, and MCC also offers pottery painting parties!
With picnic shelters close to three playgrounds and indoor restrooms, Northern Fauquier Community Park is an excellent outdoor location for little ones to run, play, and celebrate a birthday milestone!

Volunteers
Donating time is a great way to give back to your community. Help is needed with park and community center beautification projects, office help, and organizing upcoming programs and events. If you or your group would like to contribute time and talents, please call 540-422-8572 for more details and to get started!
“…I consider this the most important work I have ever done.  I have been able to have a major influence on the health, strength, beauty, and longevity of a great number of trees which should grace our park for decades and centuries.” –FCPRD volunteer arborist

Youth Scholarships Available
Did you know that Parks and Recreation offers scholarships to youth to participate in programs?  The process is very simple and can reduce the cost of a class by up to $50.00.  In these tough economic times, every little bit helps!  Stop by or call Marshall Community Center for more details about this opportunity.

The Marshall Community Center Advisory Committee
The Marshall Community Center Advisory Committee is an active group of individuals who support and seek support from the community for the Marshall Community Center and Community Park--- the facility, grounds, programs and special events.  If you have ideas or would like to share your time, talents or financial resources by joining in the efforts of this dedicated group, please contact Patrick Workman (540) 422-8582 or email mccadvisorycommittee@fauquiercounty.gov. The Advisory Committee is currently fundraising to install a new sign at the Marshall Community Center along Rectortown Road. On February 25th, 2012 the MCC Advisory Committee hosted a concert benefiting the Marshall Community Center.

The Marshall Community Center Advisory Committee meets on the third Monday of every month at 6:00 PM.  The meetings are held at the Marshall Community Center and are open to the public.
