A Resolution Authorizing the
County Administrator and County Attorney to Take All Actions
Necessary to Have a Portion of McRae’s Road Taken Back Into
the State Secondary System of Highways
|
|
Topic Description: |
|
McRae’s Road, Virginia State
Route 695, was previously in the Virginia State Secondary
System of Highways. A portion of McRae’s Road was
discontinued for maintenance by the Virginia Department of
Transportation (VDOT) on March 11, 1965. After the
discontinuance of maintenance the Fauquier County Planning
Commission approved Pleasant Estates subdivision which uses
McRae’s road, including the unmaintained portion, as its
entrance way to the subdivision. The owners of land in
Pleasant Estates have asked that that the unmaintained
portion of McRae’s Road from the present terminus of state
maintenance to the present turnaround, a distance of
approximately 0.4 miles, be taken back into the State
Secondary System of Highways. The Virginia Department of
Transportation has determined that it will cost $22,000 to
bring the road back into conformance with the Virginia
Department of Highways regulations of State Secondary Road.
