Notice of Earthquake Drill
Individuals and communities throughout five states and the District of Columbia will practice “Drop, Cover, and Hold On,” the recommended response in the event of an earthquake, during the first ever Great SouthEast ShakeOut earthquake drill on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 10:18 a.m.
Federal, state, and local emergency management experts and other official preparedness organizations all agree that "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" is the appropriate action to reduce injury and death during earthquakes. The ShakeOut is our opportunity to practice how to protect ourselves during earthquakes.
Employees of Fauquier County Government and Schools will be participating in and encouraging citizens to join in this drill. To learn more about what to do-- and what not to do in the event of an earthquake see: http://www.dropcoverholdon.org/
