Fauquier County Corral Farm Facility Procedures for Commercial Haulers
In order to provide efficient and economical services, the following rules will be strictly enforced at the Fauquier County Corral Farm Facility.
COMMERCIAL/BUSINESS WASTE DISPOSAL HOURS:
Vehicles are requested to be across the scales with enough time to dispose
of waste prior to closing time. The Scales will be open to accept vehicles
during the following hours:
MSW Hours:
Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Saturday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Disposal of municipal solid waste (MSW) from other jurisdictions is prohibited. Only MSW from Fauquier County is accepted.
C&D Hours: Monday
through Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
C&D is accepted regionally.
Recycling Center Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Only separated recycling materials accepted. Call Office for more information at (540) 347-6811.
HOLIDAY CLOSURE:
This facility will be closed on the following holidays:

INCLEMENT WEATHER:
In cases of severe weather this facility may have delayed openings, early
closure or complete closures. There are three ways to find out information
about inclement weather status of this facility:

On the bottom of the County homepage select eNotifications and sign up “Emergency Landfill and Convenience Site Closing Notices”.
ACCOUNT ESTABLISHMENT:
Establishing an account to utilize this facility accounts requires:
- Current Notarized Agreement
- Valid Landfill Vehicle Permits
- Approved Credit Application (for credit accounts)
It is the responsibility of account holder to notify the landfill office of any changes/updates to the account, such as billing address, vehicle information and contact information.
CASH ACCOUNTS:
Cash or check must be paid at time of transaction. If payment is not
made the County Sheriff will be notified immediately.
CREDIT ACCOUNTS:
Fauquier County may extend credit, at its discretion, to certain customers
after a credit application has been completed. Please call the office
during business hours for a copy of the credit policy and application.
Accounts that exceed their credit limit will automatically become “Cash Customers” until payment is received.
A monthly billing statement will be sent to your place of business. To
keep the account in good standing the current charges are due prior to the
last business day of the month. The specific date and time payment is
due is printed on the bottom of the statement.
If a vehicle does not weigh out when required the outbound weight will automatically
become 20 pounds, resulting in the customer paying the balance net weight.
Accounts past due will be sent to the County Attorney for collection and automatically
become a “Cash Customer”. If an account is sent to the County
Attorney for collection, a 10% penalty will be added to the total account
balance.
Credit may be revoked at any time without notice.
TICKETS:
As vehicles cross the scales the transaction creates a ticket. The ticket
that is created is the invoice for that particular load of waste.
The account holder has 90 days from the date of transaction to request corrections
to any ticket (invoice) for County review. After 90 days, charges are
final and shall not be adjusted.
There is a $5.00 per ticket fee for any requests for duplicating tickets that
are lost.
LANDFILL PERMITS:
Each vehicle accessing the landfill is required to have the assigned permit affixed to
the vehicle. The scale attendant must be able to read the permit on
both sides of the vehicle as the vehicle crosses the scales to process the
transaction.
It is the account holder’s responsibility to notify the Environmental
Services office of any changes to vehicle information or permit status.
PURCHASING A NEW PERMIT:
To register a vehicle, complete a vehicle registration
form for each vehicle
to be permitted attaching a copy of the vehicle registration.

REPLACING AN EXISTING PERMIT:
To replace an existing sticker due to vehicle repair or other such event another
vehicle registration form must be completed annotating which permit number
it is replacing.
Please refer to the current fee schedule. (Fee does not apply if
replacement was requested by County Staff due to permit being illegible)
YEARLY PERMIT RENEWAL:
All Landfill permits are valid from time of purchase to January 15th of the
following year. Each fall a Permit Renewal packet will be mailed to
each account that has valid permit(s).

TARE WEIGHT:
Generally TARE weights will be stored in the system for trucks hauling 30
yard containers utilizing the facility consistently at least 3 times per week
or 5 times per two week period. The truck must be weighed in and out
a minimum of 3 to 5 times with a minimum variance of 1.5% to have a valid
TARE weight assigned.
Random TARE weight inspections will be done throughout the year with each
vehicle being recertified every two years.
Any account holder may request to store a TARE weight if the truck meets the
assignment criteria or they may request to remove a stored TARE weight at
any time through the year. An account representative must request in
writing to have a TARE weight stored or removed from the system. The
County retains the right to remove a stored TARE weight at any time without
notice.
TARE weights are calculated averages and therefore are not exact. For
an accurate weight it is recommended to weigh in and out for each transaction.
WASTE INSPECTIONS:
This facility may inspect vehicles at any time for unauthorized waste or contamination
in loads. Separated loads that have contaminants will be charged at
the mixed load rate.
Any vehicle disposing of unauthorized/inappropriate waste at this facility
or misrepresenting what the load contains will receive a violation notification
and the account will be charged a minimum $10 fee for the violation.
Drivers are given the option to witness any load inspection.
FEE SCHEDULE:
Disposal fees may change or be updated throughout the year. Please visit
our website or call the office during regular business hours for a copy of
the current fee schedule.
GENERAL REGULATIONS:
- All commercial drivers and other personnel must wear safety vests or clothing (orange or yellow) while out of their vehicles.
- All individuals entering the facility must conduct themselves in a professional manner and follow the oral and written instructions of County staff.
- The speed limit on the facility is a maximum of 15 MPH. Drivers must exercise reasonable care while using the landfill, including adjusting their driving behavior and speed in accordance with prevailing driving conditions. Drive with caution and minimize speed near the scale house, operators, equipment, and at all intersections.
- All commercial vehicles are subject to waste inspections.
- All commercial vehicles must pass through the scales prior to disposing of waste. Drivers that do not receive a ticket upon entering the scales must cross the scales prior to leaving the facility.
- Alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs are prohibited at this facility.
- Smoking outside is prohibited. Smoking is only authorized in personal vehicles.
- All persons and vehicles enter the facility at their own risk.
- Fauquier County assumes no liability for damages to vehicles or injuries to individuals on this facility. Report any accident immediately to the County staff.
- Use of this facility is limited to active commercial accounts with valid permits, Fauquier County residents, and government agencies.
- Fauquier County reserves the right to change or modify these rules without written notice.
DRIVER/VEHICLE REGULATIONS:
- All commercial drivers must be aware of County residents and smaller vehicles entering and leaving the facility.
- Drivers must enter and exit the scales slowly and stop smoothly to prevent damage to the scale equipment.
- Drivers must state the ORIGIN and TYPE OF MATERIAL of waste to be disposed.
- Drivers signing the Waste Inspection form are not agreeing to violation, only whether they witnessed the inspection.
- All disabled vehicles must display approved warning devices. Drivers must remain with the vehicles. Any abandoned vehicle will be towed at the owner’s expense.
- Tailgates are not to be unlatched at the scale area. Tailgates are be opened and closed at the disposal area unless otherwise instructed.
- The tilting of containers prior to disposal is prohibited. Containers are only to be tilting up at the disposal area.
- Drivers are responsible for off loading. At no time shall loads be “tied off” to be unloaded
- All waste disposal vehicles with materials that could blow out of the vehicle must be covered during transport. Covers may only be removed at the disposal area.
DRIVER/VEHICLE SUSPENSION:
The County reserves the right to immediately suspend disposal privileges to
certain drivers or vehicles for any of the following:
- Drivers/vehicles operating in an unsafe manner or with safety deficiencies.
- Salvaging and/or removal of items from this facility.
- Noncompliance with the rules and regulations concerning this facility.
- Unacceptable behavior, as determined by County operational staff.
- Driver giving incorrect information about the origin or type of waste being disposed.
