May I renew online items I have checked out?
Yes, as long as your library card has not expired.

1. From the library catalog home page, choose Log in to your account.
2. Enter your name, library card number and PIN.
3. Click on Items Currently Checked Out.
4. You may choose to Renew All Items or Renew Selected Items.
5. To Renew Selected Items, click the box(es) next to the item(s) you wish to renew, and click on the Renew Selected Items button.
6. To renew all items, click on the Renew All Items button.

Some items may NOT be renewed due to:
• outstanding holds (requests) by other patrons
• fines over $10
• an expired library card
• you may have already renewed the item the maximum number of times
• item is labeled "New"
• magazines, videos, DVDs and music CDs are NOT renewable

When you renew an item, the due date will be 21 days from the day you renew (NOT 21 days from the original due date). Call your local library if you have questions about your account.

May I renew checked out items over the telephone?
Yes, you can renew by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week by using our telephone renewal system at (540)422-8500, option 6.

Step By Step Procedure:
1. Call (540)422-8500 using a touch-tone telephone.
2. Press 6 to access the telephone renewal system.
3. Listen to the instructions completely and then follow the steps. When entering numbers, press each number slowly. You must enter every digit of your library card number and every digit of the barcode number of each item you want to renew. Both numbers contain 10 digits.
4. When entering your library card number you must enter all 10 digits, followed by the pound (#) sign.
5. The system will tell you how many items you have checked out, and of those, how many can be renewed. Do NOT assume everything you have checked out will be renewed.
6. The menu message will then state five options:
• Enter 1, to renew materials. (You must select option 1 each time you renew another item.)
• Enter 2, for a list of titles checked out.
• Enter 3, for a list of titles on hold.
• Enter 4, for a list of outstanding charges.
• Enter *, to return to the main menu.

Please call your local library to report any problems with the telephone renewal system.
