Outreach Programs

outreachThe library's outreach programs serve its youngest and oldest patrons and those who have disabilities requiring them to remain home-bound. Below are the library's outreach programs.

Box O' Books

Box O' Books is the library’s delivery service for daycare, preschool and child care providers. Learn more about this unique program.

Mother Goose

The library's Outreach Coordinator, Johnetta Pruitt, is the library's own "Mother Goose." Dressed as Mother Goose, complete with webbed feet, Mrs. Pruitt is often seen surrounded by preschoolers in rapt attention to her storytelling. In addition to reading stories, she does fingerplays and some puppetry. If your group would like to have "Mother Goose" visit, please contact Public Services Manager Dawn Sowers.

Book Buddies

The library's Book Buddies is a program designed to serve those who are physically, visually or hearing impaired and unable to come to the library. Some home-bound patrons have a Book Buddy — a friend, relative or neighbor — who will pick up and return library materials on their behalf. Materials for these patrons may be ready for pick up when their Book Buddy comes to the library, provided the Book Buddy or patron has contacted the Outreach office prior to his or her library visit.

If the patron or Book Buddy needs help in choosing appropriate materials, Fauquier County Public Library will assist them. The library also provides books, large-print books, books on tape, and other materials to home-bound patrons who don’t have a friend or relative to serve as their Book Buddy. If you know someone who needs a Book Buddy, please contact Public Services Manager Dawn Sowers.
