
The Fauquier County Adult Detention Center’s primary purpose is to house and safely keep all prisoners remanded to the custody of the Sheriff. Also, we are responsible for the transportation of prisoners to appropriate federal, state, county and local facilities. The Fauquier County Adult Detention Center is operational 24 hours daily.
The ADC runs several programs that allow inmates to be given opportunities to participate in employment, educational, vocational and rehabilitative services.

Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center
Fauquier County has also become a partner with the Clarke/Frederick/Fauquier/Winchester Regional Jail (http://www.nradc.com/jailauth.html) located in Winchester, Virginia. This partnership allows us to transfer inmates due to the over population, security, and medical concerns.Programs and Services
Trustee Program- Trustee Program – This is a highly structured program that allows inmates to work in and around the facility to perform such tasks as food service, cleaning, and minor repair work.
- Fauquier County General Services Work Program – This program is managed by the Fauquier County General Services Division, bonded by the Fauquier Circuit Court to supervise these inmates. Inmates are utilized to provide a range of services from cleaning county buildings to lawn maintenance. Inmates are permitted to participate in this program provided they meet all program criteria. These guidelines insure the safety and security of the citizens of Fauquier County.
- Work Release Program – The Work Release Program allows inmates that are sentenced within program guidelines and have minimal sentences to maintain employment while serving their sentence. On site job checks as well as alcohol and drug screens are performed routinely. Employers are also required to monitor participants while at work.
- Electronic Incarceration Program –Home incarceration is an alternative, cost-effective method of incarceration by electronic monitoring that allows inmates to remain productive in society. Eligibility requirements include but are not limited to:
- Good conduct while incarcerated
- Having a permanent local address
- Having a residential phone
- Participants must pay fees and are subject to random home visits and random drug/alcohol screens.

Visitors may be friends or relatives. Each inmate is required to complete a registration form that list no more than three authorized visitors. The list may be changed once every thirty days.
No one under the age of 18 may visit unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Visitors are required to identify themselves and are subject to search.
Visitors are required to have an assigned time for visitation. All visitors
must call the ADC booking desk at 540-422-8700 the day of the requested visitation,
between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. for their appointment time. Visits
last approximately 20-25 minutes.
No clothing, food or other items will be accepted. Inmates are able to purchase hygiene items, clothing and various snack foods, etc., from our commissary. Funds may be applied to an inmate's account in the form of a money order or cashier's check. no cash will be accepted.
Inmates are allowed access to current periodicals and the jail library once per week. They may also receive books and magazines that are shipped directly from the publisher.

Inmate Privileges
Inmates have access to telephones to make collect calls. They may not receive incoming calls or messages unless it is a life/death emergency, which will be verified by Corrections Staff prior to issuing the message to the inmate.Inmates are permitted to establish financial accounts, to use in the purchase of canteen items, such as hygiene items, toiletries, snacks, etc. All monies sent to inmates must be in the form of cashier’s check or money order made out to the inmate. No personal checks or cash will be accepted by the ADC.
