A Remington man has been charged with attempted abduction following an incident reported Monday night, February 4, 2013.
At approximately 11:00pm deputies responded to a residence in Remington, VA. A female victim reported she was walking west on Main St. near the Remington Pharmacy. The victim said as she approached a male on a bicycle, they exchanged greetings and he suddenly grabbed her by the wrist. She said she told the individual to let go or she would scream. He then used his other hand to place over her mouth.
The victim reported she was able to struggle to break free and ran home. She provided a detailed description to deputies who canvassed the town.
Deputy Jimmy Arrington recognized the suspect’s description as similar to an individual he previously encountered living in a tent behind a residence on Franklin St. Deputies went to search that location and found Arthur M. Gatewood.
After further investigation Deputy Wesley Frost arrested Gatewood, 53, with no fixed address. He was subsequently charged with attempted abduction and possession of marijuana. He is being held with no bond in the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center.
