
PRESS RELEASE
CREDIT CARD THEFT AND
FRAUD CHARGED
Michael A. Roefols, 18 year old male of Huntridge Court in Broad Run, and Eric T. Keller, 18 year old male of Aaron Mountain Road in Castleton, Virginia, were arrested and charged with Credit Card Theft and Credit Card Fraud by Detective T. Durica and Detective C. Bopp of the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
The investigation determined on March 18, 2006, in the 5100 block of Hopewell Road in The Plains, Virginia, Roelofs and Keller entered an unsecured vehicle and removed a purse containing personal identification and credit cards. The credit cards were used at a local bank where cash was obtained. They attempted to obtain cash from several other locations but were unsuccessful.
Working closely with bank officials the detectives were able to identify the suspects and make the arrests. Both were released on a $10,000.00 cash or surety bond pending an appearance in the Fauquier County General District Court.
