National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

  • Date: -

Telecommunicators Week April 8-14, 2018The Fauquier Sheriff’s Office Communications Division is celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week the second full week of April (April 8-14, 2018).  During this week, we honor the thousands of men and women who answer emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving instructions over the phone to the world’s citizens.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first 9-1-1 call made in Haleyville, AL on February 16, 1968. 9-1-1 has been the gateway between the public and emergency help, and it will continue to be there as a lifeline to help people when they need it most. Though the technology has changed and the profession has grown over the years, the desire to make a difference in people’s lives remains the same.

Please join us in recognizing the people under the headset and behind the consoles.
