🚧 White’s Mill Paving Project Update

Post Date:10/02/2025 3:00 PM

The ongoing paving project at Whites Mill Trail that began on September 22, 2025 was originally scheduled to wrap by October 3, however the timeline has now been extended through Friday, October 10, 2025 due to weather delays and to allow for additional subsoil preparation and ensure long-term durability.

This planned project is part of a broader push to enhance outdoor spaces and connectivity throughout the area. Whites Mill Trail is part of the Cedar Run Greenway, a scenic trail nestled within a 70-acre stream valley park near Warrenton. Open for biking, hiking, and wildlife observation, White’s Mill Trail winds along constructed wetlands bordering Cedar Run. It’s paved, features multiple bridges, and stretches approximately 1.25 miles in a “T” shape rather than a loop.

The trail is a biodiversity hotspot. During a September 2008 Bio-Blitz, observers recorded 35 bird species, 55 types of shrubs and trees, 10 insect varieties, and 55 different flowers, grasses, and ground covers, a testament to the ecological richness of the area.

From smoother parking lots to revitalized trails, this season is all about progress. We appreciate the community’s patience and support as we continue to deliver lasting improvements.
