Fauquier County is taking an exciting step toward expanding local outdoor recreation and improving community connectivity. The Fauquier County Parks & Recreation Department will host a public hearing for the Laurel Ridge Shared Use Path, a VDOT project (EN24‑030‑896, UPC 125740) designed to link Laurel Ridge Community College with the Warrenton Branch Greenway Trail.
The hearing will be held on May 21, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the Barkman Family Conference Center in Hazel Hall, located at 6480 College Street, Warrenton, VA 20187.
This proposed shared use path represents a meaningful investment in recreation, safety, and accessibility. The project includes approximately 4,450 linear feet of a 10‑foot‑wide path, along with pedestrian and drainage improvements that will enhance the overall experience for walkers, runners, cyclists, and families. Once complete, the path will create a seamless connection between the college campus and the popular Warrenton Branch Greenway Trail, opening the door to healthier lifestyles and easier access to outdoor spaces.
During the hearing, visitors will be able to explore informational handouts and view a large, colorized project rendering, offering a clear look at the future of this corridor.
Residents are welcome to attend, learn more, and share their thoughts.
