Purpose

The Budgetary and Financial Planning Committee shall serve as a standing committee under the System Chief, to support the budget and planning of public funds.  The Budgetary and Financial Planning Committee shall review and provide counsel to the Executive Committee and the Systems Chief on the operating and capital needs of the FCFRS consistent with the Countywide annual budget and capital planning process, as directed by the Fauquier County Office of Management and Budget and County Administration.

The Volunteer Fire and Rescue Financial Management Policy shall and will continue to govern the financial management of public and private funds for the volunteer companies.  This shall include the operating, capital, or debt service funding or contributions budgeted to support the volunteer company operations.  The Deputy Chief of Volunteer and Support Services will fulfill the role of budgetary and financial planning committee representative on the review committee with the County Treasurer and Finance Director to approve the release of public funds to the volunteer companies, in accordance with the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Financial Management Policy.

Authority

The Budgetary and Financial Planning Committee was established by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors pursuant to the Code of Virginia.

Term

Members are appointed for a one-year term.

The Budgetary and Financial Planning Committee meets quarterly on the second Wednesday of the month at the Warrenton Vol. Fire Department (167 W Shirley Ave, Warrenton, VA 20186) at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level classroom.
