Purpose

The Fauquier County Broadband Authority was established by Ordinance of the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors adopted April 13, 2017, in order to facilitate increased availability of affordable broadband internet services to citizens in Fauquier County.  

Authority

The Fauquier County Broadband Authority is established pursuant to the Virginia Wireless Service Authorities Act, Chapter 54.1, §§ 15.2-5431.1 and 15.2-5431.23 of the Code of Virginia, 1950 as amended, in order to provide qualifying communications services as authorized by Article 5.1 (§ 56-484.7:1 et seq.) of Chapter 15 of Title 56.    

Term

Authority members serve a term of four years, concurrent with the Board of Supervisors term of office.
