Purpose

The Fauquier County Public Library Board of Trustees serves as a link between the Library and the community, representing the needs and views of Fauquier County residents for the development of responsive, quality library services. Board members work with the Library Director and staff to study, evaluate, and develop library policies and long-range plans.

Authority

The Library Board is established pursuant to § 42.1-33 of the Code of Virginia.

Term

The Fauquier County Board of Supervisors appoint members of the Library Board for each magisterial district for a four-year staggered term (ending June 30).

The Library Board of Trustees usually meets the 4th Thursday of the month, except in August and December. Public Comment Protocol

Time is set aside at Library Board meetings to accept comments from the public. Citizens wishing to address the Library Board should provide their name and residential address. Citizens’ comments should be limited to three (3) minutes unless a large number of citizens wish to speak; in which case, the time limit might be reduced to accommodate all who wish to address the Board. This is a time to allow the Library Board to gather information from interested citizens on library matters.
