Purpose

The Transportation Committee serves as an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors and other County Boards and Commissions on transportation related matters. The function of the Transportation Committee includes the following:

• Assists in prioritizing the County’s transportation needs and makes recommendations in conjunction with updates to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Six-Year Plans for primary and secondary roads.
• Works to implement and further the County’s transportation element of the Comprehensive Plan.
• Works with the Public Safety Committee to make recommendations concerning public safety.
• Works to place the County’s transportation planning efforts within a regional context.

Authority

The Transportation Committee is established pursuant to the provisions of § 15.2-2223 of the Code of Virginia.

Term 

Committee members serve four-year terms, concurrent with the Board of Supervisors.
