For Fauquier County residents, the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Fauquier County records, upon presentation, free of charge, the original or a properly authenticated copy of either the discharge certificate or the report of separation from active duty (Department of Defense Document DD-214), or both. 

• Virginia Code Section 17.2-265 limits disclosure of these records.
  • To ensure that these guidelines are met, the Clerk requires photo ID and proper authorization.
• A person requesting access may use the request form.
• The Clerk's Office will provide certified copies of these recorded records without charge.
