NOTICE: Virginia DEQ Has Increased Stormwater Permit Fees

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has implemented updated fees for Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Program (VESMP) and Construction General Permit (CGP) activities. The revised fee schedule became effective July 1, 2026, and applies to new permit applications, permit modifications and transfers, and annual permit maintenance fees. Future fee adjustments will occur annually based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

If you are planning a land-disturbing project or submitting a stormwater permit application, please review the updated fee schedule before applying. For the complete DEQ fee schedule and additional information, visit the Virginia DEQ Stormwater Fees page. Please note: the DEQ portion of the fee will be collected directly from the Applicant by the Department of Environmental Quality. County staff cannot assist with collection of the DEQ fee. If questions arise related to fee collection from DEQ, please contact constructiongp@deq.virginia.gov.
