Did you know?
The main reason bees hang around bottle and can containers is that they are looking for the sweet liquid left in soda cans. For everyone’s safety, please rinse your containers before recycling.
Leaving the paper label on the can is perfectly acceptable.
Leaving the lid attached to a steel can or inside a crushed can is the preferred
method for processing.
Why Recycle?
Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to power a television for three hours and takes about 60 days to find its way back to the grocery store shelf as part of a new can with your favorite beverage. Aluminum cans can be recycled indefinitely. (Source – The Aluminum Association)
Fauquier County recycled approximately 120 tons (180,000 pounds) of aluminum and steel cans in FY2024. Put in perspective, about 34 aluminum cans equal one pound.
